Peter was forced to his feet and almost immediately he began to doubt this plan. While he would die for Lucy, Peter was worried to leave her alone after Aphine was done with him. Maybe Aslan would finally show up. If it took Peter dying for Aslan to come to the rescue, then so be it. He let his arms hang by his side not bothering to try and pry Aphine’s hand off his collar. His eyes followed her other hand and seeing it start to grow red Peter braced himself for the pain he knew would follow. He also knew that whatever pain she would inflict on him it couldn’t be as bad as the pain he felt the night Aly was turned.
As he hand slapped across Peter’s face he shouted out in agony, his flesh burning and stining like nothing else. Before Peter could eve think there was another blow sent to his stomach and the same burning pain radiated through his bones. He shut his eyes tight and tried to ignore the pain but it was pointless. His body felt like it had been electrified. Peter shook as the energy flow through his body and limbs. Make it stop. He thought praying to Aslan. Please. Make it stop.
Peter’s knees gave out and he collapsed to the floor. At first he lay there in a heap breathing heavily trying to keep himself from throwing up. His ears rang but amidst the constant ringing Peter could hear the voice of an angel. She was crying and she sounded desperate. Peter hated to hear an angel sound so sad. He forced himself to look and as his vision came back to him, Peter saw the angel take the form of Lucy, his sister. Yes. Lucy was here with him. He was doing this in place of Lucy. During the moments of agony Peter had forgotten where he was or even why he was here. All he could think about was the pain and making it stop.
While it would have been a smart move to stay down, Peter couldn’t help himself. Every muscle in his body ached but he still found some strength to push himself up. Slowly Peter rose to his feet using the wall for support. He looked up to Aphine taking his time to raise his head as high as he could. His face displayed a look of seriousness as he gazed into Aphine’s cold eyes. But it melted away into a cocky grin. Peter wasn’t sure if he would be able to speak but he worked his way to it.
“Jadis would be disappointed. You can’t even torture anyone right.” His voice was raspy but there was a clear tone of mockery in it. Some part of Peter prayed that this would be the last thing he ever said.
