Arina sat smiling staring at the ocean. It was very pretty and somehow different from the oceans back in Runia. This place was new and exciting and far from the troubles that plagued her in her home world. It was almost a blessing that she should find herself here. It was beautiful and would be almost exactly like Runia but the trees smelled different, if that made sense to anyone but Arina. She hummed a soft tune that was once sung by her mother just before bedtime each night. It held bittersweet memories for Arina seeing as how mother was now deceased. She loved the song but disliked some of the feelings behind it.
She buried her feet into the sand, so warm from the afternoon sun’s rays. It was nice that she had arrived near the ocean and chose to remain here for the last two weeks. Visiting it everyday still hadn’t gotten old, but Arina did want to explore more of this new land. She didn’t know how long it would be until she was trust back into Runia. The idea made her shiver and her smiling face steadily turned grim. It was her fault. There was no way that she could face anyone from Runia ever again. She didn’t want to go back home, Arina was now content living here in this wonderful new land.
She forced herself to smile again seeing a large wave lap upon the shore just barely missing the spot where she had buried her feet in the sand. She chuckled and little and freed her feet, scooting forward in her dress. The ocean drew back taking a deep breath before exhaling and sending another wave of crystal blue water to shore, this time the water reached Arina’s spot washing over her feet and dampening the edges of her dress. She giggled in surprise at the cool temperature of the water. This was perfect, everything she wanted and needed in life. Perhaps a new friend. She thought idly as another wave met her on the beach.
Arina turned her head and glanced up at the ruins above on top of the cliff. She had searched them already, twice. It must have been a great castle once all shiney and full of beauty. There were probably dances and courts full of people in glorious dresses and wearing stunning crowns. She continued to grin and dig her hands into the sand. The only place that was semi intact was a treasure room, gold with thick amounts of dust covering each object in the room. There was a shield she particularly liked with the face of a lion on it. The four chests in the room only had a few articles of forgotten clothing suited for adults and too large for Arina. She had already tried one on, it fit nicely everywhere except the length was too long. She was too short for the likes of the royal gown. How unfortunate.
Arina got to her feet and hiked up the hem of her dress holding it in a ball in one hand. She waded out into the ocean resuming to hum the same tune as before. This time she ignored the sad memories of her mother and thought only of the ocean and what adventures would await her. WORD // 552 OUTFIT //h e r eTAG // open

The salty smell of the sea acted as Mason's one real guide in this strange world. Of course it could only lead him to....well, the sea, but that was better than nothing no? The sea was the only thing that could provide him with comfort here since the salty scent was identical to that of the Pacific Ocean that bordered his homeland of Australia. The beach was roughly similar too, except the color of the sand was a shade brighter. Or maybe he was just making that up so that he could remind himself that this place wasn't his home. Though remembering that wasn't too big of a task since everything in this place was different from his home. Except for those talking animals. He was sure those were natural back home too.
Mason hardly seemed to mind though. In fact, stumbling upon this new place was considered a blessing to him. Here, he didn't have to carry around his army issued gun. Here, he wasn't overwhelmed by the rusty stench of blood, and sweat. Not that he didn't still imagine the smell sometimes, but at least he could tell himself that it wasn't real and believe it. Only two things bothered him about this place. One. The clothing. It was much too olden times for his own taste, but he'd already managed to 'borrow' some to replace his clearly out-of-style uniform. And then two. He still couldn't figure out where in the hell he could possibly be. He needed to put a name to the place for sanity's sake, so currently he referred to it as Wonderland. His sincerest thanks to Lewis Carroll for the inspiration.
He could even imagine himself falling down the Rabbit Hole now. Oh wait, that was because he'd misstepped on the way down down the cliff and had stumbled, rolled, and fallen the rest of the way down. "Oww-pft, pft!" Mason coughed and spluttered as he choked up a handful of sand that he had incidentally swallowed when he'd hit the beach face first. Sticking out his tongue, he proceeded to try and spit out the remaining grains of sand. Of course he failed to get them all, so he settled for just making a displeased, funny face at the wretched particles of sand. "Bad sand, bad," He shook his head, stumbling back to his feet in that clumsy manner of his.
Civilization! Or one single person, it was all the same, really. Mason thought as he picked out another lone figure wandering into the shallow water. He'd only seen a small number of other people since he'd been here...and a few talking rabbits-one of which threw a half-eaten carrot at his head. Were all rabbits that rude? He certainly hoped not.
Attempting to shrug off his excitement at the prospect of socializing, Mason half-ran, half-walked over to the edge of the tide (only slipping on the sand, once. new record for him). The figure of the other person was slim and short enough to alert him to the fact that the person was a girl, and was indeed, oddly short. Or perhaps he was just tall. Either way, it was still an irrelevant detail that he'd only just picked up on. "'Ello there, ma'am!" He called out, his thick Australian accent shining through each word. "That sea looks swimmingly on you," Mason smiled goofily, as he took a couple of steps into the water. "Would it bother you greatly if I joined you?"

Arina splashed about in the ocean keeping her dress raised up above the water so it wouldn’t weigh her down. The water here felt different than in Runia, strange as that was to say. She giggled as a wave chased her back toward the shore. Arina nearly tripped trying to make it back in time. She was perfectly content in just playing with the ocean by herself. Three could sometimes be a crowd but Arina didn’t mind new people. And she had, just moments ago, had the idea of meeting a new friend. However, at this moment she was too wrapped up with how the ocean sands felt between her toes to notice the boy standing on the shore. When he called out to her, Arina jumped in fright momentarily wondering if it had been a wave.
“Ocean?” she murmured.
Then Arina turned her head as the voice came from behind. It wasn’t the ocean who was speaking to her. The boy wasn’t particularly hideous, or unattractive. He didn’t have horrible features of a monster one would see in their worst nightmare. In fact, he was the opposite. His accent was different, something new Arina had never heard before. And that was interesting. He was charming and very attractive. So when Arina screamed at the sight of him she felt awful. It was out of surprise that she cried out. And this time when her body shook out of fright a wave caught her off guard. Arina shrieked again and fell backwards into the water. Her heavy green dress sank and acted as an anchor keeping her weighed to the bottom.
Luckily she had only wandered out her knees so the water wasn’t incredibly deep. The waves made it difficult to remain completely still. Arina spit salt water from her mouth. She blinked it from her eyes, stinging a little. Getting over the shock of falling, Arina tried to push herself up. She looked over to the boy who caused all the problems. She wasn’t mad at him for the series of events that played out. Arina just smiled at him and she got to her feet dripping head to toe. Her dress clung to her and wading back out to the shore was a difficult task when it originally wouldn’t have been. Her hair was soaked, flat to her head making her long pointed ears even more obvious.
“Thank you.” she said out of breath. “I thought I’d try the entire ocean on just to make sure.” Arina laughed. She picked up an end of her dress and wrung it out. Sand was already clinging to the ends.
“All due respect sir, I think the ocean is done with me for today but I wouldn’t mind company on the beach of at the ocean’s doorstep.” she said gesturing to the area where the water hardly reached. Arina examined the stranger realizing he wasn’t so much of a boy as he was a man. She continued to smirk; “I’m Arina by the way.” she gave a tiny wave. WORD // 508 OUTFIT //h e r eTAG // mason
