Avaris was used to a lonely life. The trees were her friends, well the Narnian ones anyway. She’d have occasional quiet conversations with the birds and whatever small talking beasts she could discretely converse with. Jadis’ return had been hard. All her confidence and safety had withered in the wind. Nothing was safe anymore. There was still much security in water. That part would never change. She was tired and worn, dirty and sore. What she needed was a relief. She had been out since the crack of dawn and had been traveling for weeks on end with no clear direction or end in sight. Avaris lived day by day in fear of Jadis and of being caught. She had ‘magical Narnian’ written all over her. She heaved a heavy sigh, smelling the fresh, sweet scent of fresh water. She creaked a soft smile and suddenly gained a bounce in her step. There was a river near, her blood pulsed in excitement and she knew she was right. In no time, she had eagerly run to its side. After checking that the coast was completely clear, she pulled her chain mail off , smirking as it thumped against the ground. She pulled her shirt off and tossed it casually on top. The rest followed and she chuckled, almost stupidly as her boots were finally removed. This was bold, but she hadn't bathed the dirt and blood off in weeks. Her muscles ached, scrapes stung, and body felt as if she had died and been resurrected. She slunk into the cool water, smiling broadly as the cool water wrapped around her skin. Her blood tingled and screamed in excitement.
Even though she was oblivious to her roots, there was no denying that something else ran through her veins; more than blood for sure. Avaris dunked her head under, coming up with a stupid laugh at the water's power on her worn body. Suddenly, something snapped in the distance ahead of her. She gasped in fear and dove under, swimming over to the water's edge. She lurked, and stayed to the shade. Her heart was suddenly beating in panic. Vulnerability was her biggest fear and she was about to live it.

Cain had escaped death and his old life in Tabluna but it meant nothing if Evelyn wasn’t there with him. And he had no idea if she were here in this new land or not. He had to hold onto hope that she had crossed over too. Cain attempted various locating spells but his magic wasn’t working as it should. His powers relayed on the Creator and the Powers Above like all Paladin. Because this wasn’t Tabluna he assumed that the Creator was different and hence, his magic would not work properly. How inconvenient the circumstances were making Cain relay on his tracking skills, which were not that great.
Cain would search to the ends of the Earth for Evelyn and if he had to he would find a way back to Tabluna and search for her there. She was his best friend despite the fact that they had been trying to kill each other at one point. He was a paladin and she was a magus. The natural order of things meant that he was supposed to kill her for her use of magic. Cain was a lot of things but he wasn’t going to kill the girl that meant more to him than his own life. It was because of him that the two of them were in this mess.
If they were together this place would be a blessing, but as it were Cain had no idea if Evelyn were even a live let alone in the same world. He rubbed the back of his head and leaned on his staff, it was a long day of walking through forests and flat lands. It was about time for a rest and this place by a river looked as good as any. Cain flipped his staff up and placed it across his shoulders lacing his arms over it, he appeared as a walking scarecrow. “And we’ll both go together, to collect wild mountain thyme” he sang with a grin on his face. He approached the water but stopped when he saw that he wasn’t alone by the bank.
A woman, a quite beautiful woman, was there with him. She had long dark hair that cascaded in waves down her back. She was bathing in the water and it was almost impossible for him not to stare. Cain smiled as she went under and came back up. He walked forward without even thinking, his eyes still locked on what may have been a Goddess in the water. His foot stepped on a thin weak fallen branch, and with just the slightest amount of pressure it snapped and echoed through the forest. Cain froze as the woman went back under, so much for being sneaky. He swung the staff of from his shoulders and moved closer making his presence known.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Cain stopped a few feet from her as to not frighten her any further. “I was just surprised to see anyone else here in the woods. I’ll just turn and not stare at you while you’re….undressed.” his eyes flickered down to her clothing. “I mean this is a golden opportunity for any guy, don’t get me wrong but I’m not going to hurt you or whatever else. So here I go, turning my back.”
Cain spun on his feet and turned his back on the woman. “I’m Cain, by the way.” WORD COUNT//568 TAG //avaris NOTES//evelyn would be pissed if she found out! ha!

One thing was for sure, she was definitely not expecting company, especially no of the male species. Swallowing hard, Avaris brought an arm across her in the water as if she could somehow hide herself further. She didn't know much about men or love or anything like that, but her father always warned her against such things, saying they only brought bad news and unwanted attention. Especially in situations such as this. She grabbed a branch against the back and peeled away at it idly as he gave his word.
"I'd appreciate if you did more than simply turn your back sir, I will only feel safe if you stand with your back against that strong oak there." Based on its width, there was no way he could even sneak a glance without having to literally turn around the great tree. After she felt secure enough, she scrambled up the bank and threw on the first thing she could find and hid behind another tree for added comfort. When he gave his name, she chuckled a little to herself. This stranger was trying to make light of the situation. "Good for you Cain." she smirked lightly, pulling on her shirt properly this time from behind the tree. ((Sorry for the late reply, I've been so busy))
