Neira
Name: Neira
Nickname: (none)
Age: 16
Race: half Naiad half Human
World: Narnia
Alliance:Aslan
Celebrity Claim: Sienna Guillory
Looks:
If you asked a man to describe Neira, he definitely would say one word: beautiful. As a matter of fact, the half-Naiad has everything to deserve such a description.
Neira is about 1,70m (5 ft 6) and of delicate figure. Her reddish blonde hair is a bit longer than shoulder length and falls in soft waves. When you look in her blue eyes it seems you can see the wide ocean inside.
Her 'uniform' as guard candidate consists of a light leather armor over a linen shirt, as well as linen trousers. The weapon of choice – more or less – is a standard Telmarine sword.
As everyday-clothing the young woman prefers skirts. She always says that they look better on women than trousers and transformation is much easier when her legs are not parted by fabric.
Speaking of transformation:
As soon as Neira's legs dip into water (a river, the ocean or just a pool), they combine and grow into a fin covered by leaf green scales. These continue up to her collarbone. When also her head is underwater, gills grow behind her ears so she can breath.
Personality:
Neira's personality is as various as the weather. Sometimes she's so happy she could hug everyone in the world – especially when she's in love – but sometimes she just wants to be left alone – that happens for example when she thinks about her mother and that she will never see her.
Neira is rather reserved and shy, when she meets new people. But when you have gained her trust and friendship, you have a loyal soul who would go through hell for you. She can keep secrets – obviously because she has some secrets, too. When you tell her something, you can be sure that noone will know about it.
Even before knowing of her heritage, she felt drawn to the sea, and this still is the fact.
When there's something she really wants, she will get it sooner or later. Either through stubborness or by using persuasion. A good mix of both made her become a guard candidate.
Normally Neira is calm and calculative. She loves nature and everything connected with it, sings often (and, like some people say, really good) and is a hopeless romantic on the search of true love.
But she can also show another side of herself. She protects the people or things she loves and if someone does or says something wrong, noone can tell what will happen. This is the same in situations Neira can't stand, for example when animals – especially talking ones – are treated badly or when unfair methods or weapons are used in a fight.
When you talk with her and mention her family and heritage, she gets quiet and backs out or tries to change topic. That's because of her status as a hybrid. Part Naiad part human she doesn't know what people she belongs to.
Family:
- Father: Tarlan, Lord of the Council when Caspian IX was King
- Mother: Aquamarine, Leader of the Naiads
History:
Tarlan, member of the Council of Caspian IX., and some of the other Lords were sent on a mission. When their rations were nearly used up, they feared never coming back to the castle alive.
The next night they rested near a river to at least have some fresh water. Tarlan was the first to wake up when some women came to them and brought berries and apples.
They stayed with the men until they reached the castle. Here the women told the Lords who they were: Naiads - Narnians just like in the stories each of them had heard of.
Now that they knew of the very existence of Narnians the Lords formed a secret circle and kept contact to the Naiads.
This is how Tarlan finally fell in love with their Leader, Aquamarine.
And this led to the birth of Neira.
As she was the Leader of the Naiads, Aquamarine did not dare to raise a hybrid child as her own, she knew it would lead to uprising against her.
So she sent the little girl away. Some messengers brought her to a group of Centaurs who gladly accepted her and promised to take good care of the baby.
Neira never met her real parents until she was about four years old.
Some evening, when Tarlan walked around the Castle, he noticed a suspicious shadow lurking around the kitchen where the King's diner had been prepared.
He followed the man, but lost track somewhere in the gardens.
That night Tarlan could not sleep. Somehow he had a bad feeling about his finding.
So he visited the King in his Rooms. But he was too late. King Caspian was already dead.
But Tarlan was not alone. A little bit too late he recognised that Lord Miraz was with him. The Lord sent Tarlan away, threatening to blame him for killing the King.
Tarlan chose exile and joined the Narnians – and his daughter.
With only four years of age Neira could not understand what happened so she still saw Goldmane, one of the Centaurs, as her Mother.
Tarlan tried everything to gain Neira's trust, but he never succeeded.
When the girl was old enough, Goldmane started to train her. She showed her how to weild a sword and use a bow, how to ride and fight on horseback. And as the years passed, Neira found trust in Tarlan and even accepted him as her father.
At the age of 16, Neira was ready to follow the Centaurs when the armies assembled at Aslan's How. As she had no horse of her own, her father gave her his, a bay mare named Ferina.
At Aslan's How her whole life should be changed.
She met Prince Caspian – and totally fell in love with him.
She finally learned that her father was witness to the murder of King Caspian IX. – even before Prince Caspian knew that his father had been murdered.
She fell into a pool and her legs turned into a fin – her mother's heritage.
When troops were gathered for the raid on Miraz' Castle, Neira didn't go with them. She and Goldmane stayed with Queen Lucy and the others and cared for the injured, when they came back.
Just some hours later, everyone was running around, gathering everything they could carry. When Neira asked, they could just tell her that the White Witch had been freed. Only Goldmane had the time to tell her, what really has happened. But even the fact, that it was Caspian, who freed the greatest enemy of all, could not free the young woman from her crush on the prince.
Having arrived in Archenland Glenstorm searched for men to build a Royal Guard for Caspian, as he felt they would need one soon.
Neira applied, but first she was rejected for being a woman. But she insisted and finally was accepted as guard candidate.

Sample Roleplay:
(Goldmane and Tarlan told Neira about the past, how she came to the Centaurs.)
"This is why I never met my mother."
The girl lifted the saddle on Ferina's back, every movement being watched by Goldmane.
"Don't strap it too tight", the Centaur said with a demanding voice, but changed her tone as soon as her protégé followed. "Your mother knew you'd never be save with her. Your father's people still think our people to be extinguished but as soon as men find you, another war would begin. Aquamarine hides in the deepest part of the ocean, but you also need the land."
"I think I understand." Neira lowered her head. She would love to meet her mother, but when Goldmane was right she was right. The girl had heard of the Great War, where Fauns, Centaurs and other beings had lost their life. There must not be another one.
"Let's see if you can do the sword exercises on horseback, too."
Goldmane picked up the sword that had leant on a tree, while Neira mounted her mare.
"You don't need to be gentle", the Centaur said laughing. "Ferina knows the sword and will not shy at the clashing."
Neira nodded and drew the sword attached to the horn of her saddle.
It was now two years since Neira started learning from Goldmane. First she learned how to use sword and bow and now she would combine both with riding.
They haven't fought that long as another Centaur – a strong-built man with chestnut hair – came to them. "Goldmane", he called. "Message from Glenstorm."
Goldmane nodded to Neira and put away her sword. "Speak, Fireshine."
"The Telmarine prince is on the run and the kings and queens of the Old Time have returned. Everyone assebles at Aslan's How."
Neira looked at the two. She had heard stories of four children fighting a strong enemy, the White Witch, and ruling Narnia for many years in peace. The people of Telmar was also something she had already heard about. Her father was one of them and he also had told her some history.
But why was the prince on the run? Something must have happened.
